Our Programs |
|
The most important thing in the world of an infant is security, and the feeling of being loved. Our small infant program-with only twelve babies-is designed around helping your infant feel safe and loved. We spend lots of time talking and playing-building the level of comfort and trust. We work on using simple sign language, adding another mode of communication as new vocabulary is being learned. Each child has a primary caregiver, who works with parents to make sure the child’s schedule is consistent between home and school. This ensures that each child develops at his or her own pace, while taking advantage of those teachable moments that pop up during the day. |

Toddlers are full of energy and curiosity. Our 5:1 child to teacher ratio allows for the ability to move from one activity to another as the children’s interests change-and they change quickly! The classrooms are designed around the things that interest toddlers-art, pretending, building, sensory, music and books. They are also learning while they are involved in their normal, everyday activities-eating, cleaning up, using the bathroom, walking down the halls and saying hello and goodbye. |

Preschoolers are even busier than toddlers! They are developing their own interests, their own rhythms, and their own likes and dislikes. They are learning to take turns, solve problems, ask questions, and demonstrate co-operation. They are beginning to understand and follow safety rules, channel their emotions in appropriate ways, and complete projects that take increasing amounts of time. They are becoming independent, and in our preschool program, they are allowed to demonstrate that independence by being allowed to make their own choices, and learn from them, within a safe environment. Our ratio of 10:1 provides more than adequate supervision, and enough space for children to spread their wings. |

Children gearing up for kindergarten are in a class by themselves-literally! This class, taught by two licensed kindergarten teachers, focuses on the skills needed for success in kindergarten. More emphasis is placed on reading and writing skills, self-direction, extending attention span, and looking at topics in greater detail. We are also working on fine-tuning the social skills that we have been working on all throughout the program. These include becoming secure with who each child is, identifying and expressing feelings, demonstrating respect for others and their things, and becoming responsible for themselves and their own belongings. |
